Colonized by Spain in 1884 and later occupied by Morocco since 1975, Western Sahara has been forced to rely on emergency rations for the past 50 years. Buhubeini Yahya, President of the Sahrawi Red Crescent, will discuss the situation of nutrition in the Saharawi Refugee camps, describing the needs and challenges many Saharawi’s face and the public health implications of Morocco’s colonial rule.
